American singer Lorez Alexandria, who began her career as a church singer, spent several years as part of an a cappella choir before making a name for herself in Chicago’s club scene and later moving to Los Angeles to further her career, released this album in 1958. The record captures a live performance at Chicago’s Intimate Club, featuring musicians such as King Fleming (piano) and Charles Stepney (vibraphone), known for his work with Minnie Riperton. While the album includes swinging numbers with light and effortless scat singing, the real highlights are the ballads, where Alexandria’s husky voice delivers a beautifully tender performance.
