Singer-songwriter Maki Asakawa, who began her career performing at U.S. military camps and cabarets in the 1960s, was later discovered by Shuji Terayama and Koji Teramoto in the late 1960s. She launched her live performance career at Sasori-Za in Shinjuku, gaining immense acclaim and going on to release numerous masterpiece albums. This album, released in 1980, features performances by Takeshi Shibuya (piano), Tamio Kawabata (bass), Tony Kiba (drums), Kiyoshi Sugimoto (guitar), and Akira Sakata (alto saxophone). It includes live recordings from Aketa no Mise, Kawasaki FM, and Kyoto University’s Seibu Auditorium. The album showcases Maki Asakawa’s signature bluesy and jazzy sound, featuring an outstanding selection of songs, including her early classic A Cat Called Misfortune, as well as Konya wa Oshima and Boro to Kotte, both originally released on her 1974 album VI.
