The fourth album by Swiss jazz-rock group OM, released in 1980 on JAPO, the ECM-affiliated label. The quartet consists of Urs Leimgruber (ss, ts, fl), Christy Doran (g, synth), Bobby Burri (b), and Fredy Studer (ds, perc), and had previously released an outstanding 1978 album featuring Brazilian drummer Dom Um Romão. Recorded at Talent Studio in Oslo, the album was engineered by Jan Erik Kongshaug, renowned for his work on countless ECM recordings. Highlights include A2, a deeply spiritual jazz piece in which shimmering percussion and wood flute playing ethnic-inflected melodies create a mystical atmosphere. Throughout the album, the group delivers experimental jazz-rock marked by a taut sense of tension and a highly refined groove. Original German pressing.
