This album was featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound. Released in 1975, it is an album by The Group, a Dutch jazz combo led by pianist and composer Robert E. van der Linden. One standout track is B2, an incredible piece of deep, ethnic avant-garde contemporary jazz that blends classical and experimental elements. It begins with an orchestral intro evoking the imagery of wandering into a forest, transitions into contemporary music-style vocal improvisation, and unfolds into deep acoustic jazz featuring heavy use of panning and reverb effects. Another highlight is A2, where the gentle groove is beautifully complemented by a floating flute and electric piano, creating an immensely soothing listening experience. Highly recommended.
