This is the 1st album by American guitarist Doug Smith, released in 1984, who has also released works on American Gramaphone. The album showcases a full display of pastoral New Age guitar music, utilizing alternate tunings influenced by guitarists such as Alex De Grassi and Michael Hedges, who have released works on Windham Hill. Highlights include the title track A1, overflowing with flowing melodies, and track A5, a duet with violinist Sid Page that paints a serene landscape.
