A masterpiece album released in 1981 by Phew, who was the vocalist for Aunt Sally, a band that released a classic album on Vanity Records in 1979, and who continues to consistently release works and perform live. This album features an unbelievable lineup, including Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, and Conny Plank, with the recording taking place at none other than Conny's Studio. Phew's vocals have the exuberance typical of Japanese post-punk, but what really stands out is the overwhelmingly impressive quality of the backing tracks. I have no idea how such a collaboration came together, but even in Germany at the time, I think it was rare to hear a sound with this much edge. It also seems to have influenced Kreidler, the band that includes Tolouse Low Trax, one of the artists leading the current Düsseldorf sound. A must-listen for fans of Krautrock and Neue Deutsche Welle.
