鮮烈!エキサイティング・ビート 世界の打楽器
Victor (Japan) 1973
CD4B-5048 (LP) w/obi.
sleeve : EX(very slight collapse on corner.)
media : EX/EX(some light surface noises.)
Akira Ishikawa is a Japanese jazz drummer who has made many great recordings with his band, the Counting Buffaloes. This is a quadraphonic album released in 1973, recorded with another group, The Formations. The album features arrangements of Japanese pop hits such as Linda Yamamoto's "Neraiuchi", with a variety of percussion and a large brass section, and rhythms in Latin, Brazilian, Caribbean, African and other ethnic styles. The percussion strikes on the Apache-like A3, and the seven Japanese Taiko drums, large and small, assembled on stands and struck in rapid succession on A4, are very similar to those of the Turkish jazz hero Okay Temiz. It's all very interesting, if a little cheesy with a strong easy listening sound.
A3: 荒野の果てに
A4: 愛への出発
