This is the 1981 album by the group Air, consisting of three Chicago AACM-affiliated players, Henry Threadgill, Fred Hopkins, and Steve McCall, who have collaborated with various free jazz musicians including David Murray, Don Pullen, and Andrew Cyrille. The album features tracks dedicated to the late bassist Ronnie Boykins (A2) and Cecil Taylor with Jimmy Lyons (B1/B2), which are incredibly free and intense. However, the standout is the exotic and groovy A1, where the flute weaves exotic melodies with earthy tones, and the rhythm section creates a versatile groove. Highly recommended for its gypsy-like, ethno-tune vibes.
