A leader album released in 1982 by Norwegian jazz bassist Arild Andersen, known not only for his own projects but also for his work with numerous artists such as Don Cherry and Bobo Stenson. Performed by a quartet featuring John Taylor (p), Bill Frisell (g), and Alphonse Mouzon (ds), it captures a live recording from their appearance at the 1981 Molde Jazz Festival in Norway. The performance maintains a cool, understated atmosphere even as the tension gradually heats up, delivering a consistently refined and compelling set. It also carries a hint of jazz-rock flavor shaped by Frisell’s distinctive style. Mouzon’s drumming is outstanding as well. Personally, I recommend the contemporary jazz tracks that open up into wide, perspective-rich soundscapes.
