An album released in 1959 by The Jazz Messengers, a group formed by Art Blakey, one of the drummers who represented the American jazz scene with numerous outstanding performances spanning from the 1930s. The group, active for 35 years since its formation in the late 1950s, presents recordings from a live performance at Club St. Germain in Paris, France, in December 1958. The lineup includes Lee Morgan (tp), Benny Golson (ts), Bobby Timmons (p), and Jimmy Merritt (b). From the vibrant recording of A1, capturing the audience's excitement at Timmons' groovy performance of his own composition, to the live performance resembling a cohesive energy block deserving of the title "historical masterpiece," this album is truly remarkable. It was reissued in 1991 as part of the "Gold of G.D. 100" series by BMG Victor.
