A masterpiece album released in 1974 by the Art Ensemble of Chicago, an American group from Chicago consisting of Lester Bowie, Joseph Jarman, Don Moye, Roscoe Mitchell, and Malachi Favors, who develop free/experimental jazz rooted in African traditional music. Featuring guest participation by Muhal Richard Abrams, the album contains recordings made in 1973 at Paragon Studio in Chicago. It includes the quintessential AEOC's intense free jazz tunes with their freaky blowouts, as well as organic ethno-jazz that directly reflects African folk music. Highly recommended.
