Dan Perez Trio
Always Near
Danp Records (US) 1981
RR-42042 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(dirts.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)
A rare piece has just arrived. This is the self-produced first album released in 1981 by guitarist Dan Perez, who appears to have been active in Aloha, located in Washington County, Oregon. He performs in a trio with drummer Jim Peluso, known for his work with Sphere on the Strata Records classic, and bassist Phil Sparks, who has played on recordings by vocalist Jay Clayton. Centered around authentic hard bop, the album also features deep jazz built on avant-leaning interplay, as well as refreshing bossa-jazz. Perez’s guitar style shows a strong influence of the blues.
A1: Well You Needn’t
A2: Same Time
