An album released in 1976 by the American saxophonist David Murray, who has been making waves since the mid-1970s with numerous sessions. The album features live recordings from a concert held in 1976 at Ladies’ Fort in New York with Murray's quartet consisting of Phillip Wilson (ds), Olu Dara (tp), and Fred Hopkins (b). Tracks like the impressionistic A1, where memorable themes evolve as time progresses, the B1, which inherits Albert Ayler's designs, and the B2, paying homage to Roscoe Mitchell of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, offer thrilling live performances with an edgy sound quality. This album delivers an exceptionally impressive live performance experience. Original US pressing.
