The American pianist Duke Jordan, who honed his skills under the likes of Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, and Art Farmer, and who illuminated the jazz scene from the 1950s onwards alongside greats like Sonny Stitt and Stan Getz, released an album in 1979 on the high-quality Danish jazz label SteepleChase. This trio includes Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (b) and Billy Hart (ds). The album is a masterpiece, featuring perfect ensemble performances of all original scores by Jordan, including the gentle waltz beat and elegant piano melodies of A1 and the beautiful, moodily serene ballad A2. Hart's drumming is also outstanding.
