This album, released in 1968 by American pianist Duke Pearson on the UK's Polydor label, features a trio with Thomas Howard (bass) and Lex Humphries (drums). Known for his numerous masterpieces on Blue Note since the early 1960s and his significant presence in the works of Grant Green and Freddie Hubbard, Pearson delivers a stellar performance. Track A3, "Angel Eyes," features a different trio with Bob Cranshaw (bass) and Walter Perkins (drums). In this Japanese release from 1975, the original title "Angel Eyes" was changed to "Bag’s Groove." The album includes a groovy cover of the classic title track A1, composed by Milt Jackson of the Modern Jazz Quartet, and track A2, where Pearson's elegant and fluid play shines over a Latin rhythm. This is a must-have masterpiece for enjoying Pearson’s refined and flowing performance.
