An American trumpeter deeply influenced by Sun Ra in the early 1960s, Eddie Gale went on to deliver outstanding performances in improvisational sessions with Cecil Taylor’s group and on **Of Love and Peace Larry Young. This is Gale’s debut leader album, released in 1968 on Blue Note Records. Standing at the very forefront of artists who translated the spirit of Black Nationalism into sound—echoing the civil rights movement led by figures such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X—this record remains a historic spiritual jazz masterpiece, overflowing with Black Power and militant energy. Quite simply, an essential classic. Highly recommended from start to finish. This edition is the SHM-CD reissue released in 2014 as part of Blue Note’s 75th anniversary The Masterworks series, newly remastered in 192kHz/24bit. Fully compatible with all standard CD players.
