Released in 1986, this is the first album by Electric Phoenix, a British vocal group formed by Terry Edwards, Daryl Runswick, Judith Rees, Linda Hirst, and Mary King, and known for their experimental electro-acoustic works. The album features Luciano Berio's "A-Ronne", William Billings' "Heath, Old North", and John Cage's "Hymns and Variations". Particularly noteworthy is Luciano Berio's 1976 composition "A-Ronne," which explores a new relationship between sound and words. It is a sonic poem of over 21 minutes in which words, shouts, melodies, and silence are randomly arranged to create a unique sound.
A1: Luciano Berio “A-Ronne”
B2: John Cage “Hymns and Variations”
