An album released in 1986 by American saxophonist Frank Morgan, who had been active since the early ’50s alongside Teddy Charles, Kenny Clarke, Wardell Gray, and others. It features a quartet with Cedar Walton (p), Buster Williams (b), and Billy Higgins (ds). Side A opens with a light, bossa-tinged rendition of the Lee Morgan tune first showcased on his 1967 Blue Note release Cornbread, while Side B includes an urban, sophisticated arrangement of a track from Wayne Shorter and Milton Nascimento’s masterpiece Native Dancer. Alongside pieces by Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson, and more, the album offers a cool, refined take on modern jazz — elegant and beautifully polished.
