A live album released in 1980 by Canadian pianist Gil Evans, who gained fame as a leading figure in jazz orchestras, having previously worked closely with Miles Davis in his orchestra and later leading his own group. This album is a live recording of a concert held at The Public Theater in New York in 1980, produced by Japanese pianist Masabumi Kikuchi. It features an array of unconventional musicians, including Kikuchi, Billy Cobham, Arthur Blythe, Hannibal Marvin Peterson, and George Lewis. The album opens with A1, which features Kikuchi's trippy synthesizer, and includes B1, showcasing Alyrio Lima's primitive berimbau and Brazilian percussion. The performances on this album offer a prime example of Evans' masterful jazz orchestra, making it highly recommended. This Japanese pressing is the original release.
