American saxophonist Jimmy Lyons, known for his longstanding collaboration with Cecil Taylor as well as for his outstanding joint works with Andrew Cyrille, Joel Futterman, and others, released his first leader album in 1970 on the esteemed <Actuel> series by the French label BYG. Recorded in Paris in 1969 with a quartet featuring Lester Bowie (trumpet) of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Alan Silva (bass), and Andrew Cyrille (drums), the album captures a session filled with tension and remarkable improvisation. Following the themes, the music delves into complete free improvisation, allowing each musician to showcase their individual style while maintaining a sense of dynamics. Original French pressing.
