An album released in 1988 by American pianist John Hicks, who has worked with many musicians from bop to free jazz, including Art Blakey, Sonny Simmons, Hank Mobley, and Pharoah Sanders. This leader album features a trio with Walter Booker (b) and Idris Muhammad (ds), recording session tracks from a studio in San Francisco. Hicks' piano playing, with its bright touch and elegant yet emotional phrasing, is exceptionally remarkable. While the piano solos on A4/B1 are outstanding, the refreshing Latin beat groove on A1 and the groovy performance of George Cables' score on B3 are particularly recommended.
