This is a masterpiece album released in 1976, where the giant of Black Spiritual Jazz, Archie Shepp, collaborated with the Norwegian jazz singer Karin Krog, known for her excellent vocals on John Surman's 1983 ECM work, "Such Winters of Memory." Recorded in Oslo, the album features a stellar lineup of musicians, including Charles Greenlee (trombone), Jon Blake (piano), Arild Andersen (bass), Beaver Harris (drums), Cameron Brown (bass), among others. The album includes original scores by Archie Shepp, as well as covers of songs by Randy Weston, Mal Waldron, Duke Ellington, and collaborations between Carla Bley and Karin Krog. Notable tracks include the impressive A2 with its impactful scatting intro and the outstanding interplay in the middle of A3. The album captures the mood of moody jazz where Karin Krog's adult and urban voice shines. Archie Shepp's playing, needless to say, is exceptional. The domestic version was released by Baybridge in 1977.
