A 1985 double album by Lakshmi Shankar, an Indian classical vocalist who performs in the Patiala Gharana style of Hindustani music and is also the sister-in-law of Ravi Shankar. Released by the prestigious world music/field recordings label Ocora. Accompanied by Sadanand Naimpalli (tabla) and Joanna Foresta (tampura), Shankar performs the Indian-origin bowed string instrument, the somandal, and presents compositions in Khyal, a major form of Hindustani classical music, along with her own compositions. This masterpiece features her beautiful, meditative vocals, which are worth savoring in depth.
