Formed in 1962 in Strasbourg, a city facing the Rhine River in northeastern France, Les Percussions de Strasbourg has been active for 60 years, leaving behind numerous outstanding albums adorned with silver print and black typography jackets. Their 1969 release features exquisite compositions including Kazimierz Serocki's "Continuum," where the delicate tones of percussion instruments scatter throughout the auditory space, Valentin Silvestrov's "Mysteres," where the sounds of alto flute, gongs, and cymbals float freely, and Michel Puig's "Provisoires Agglomerats," which underwent tape editing by Luc Perini at the French National Broadcasting Exploration Studio. Needless to say, it's a remarkable album.
