Louis Smith, an American trumpeter who is the cousin of Booker Little and has performed with Kenny Burrell and Horace Silver's groups, as well as releasing his own leader albums from Blue Note, released a leader album in 1979. This album was released by the high-quality Danish label SteepleChase. It features a quintet with Junior Cook (ts), Roland Hanna (p), Sam Jones (b), and Billy Hart (ds). Except for the standard in B2, all the tracks are original compositions by Smith, some of which were previously recorded. The album showcases a consistent post-bop style with a light groove throughout, highlighting the stellar performances of the participating members. B3, recorded for the first time on this album, is also exceptional.
