An album planned exclusively for Japan, released by the astounding American pianist Mal Waldron in 1970, who had been at the forefront for nearly 50 years, from the 1950s to the early 2000s. His jazz-rock album The Call, released as the first work on the Japo label, is quite popular at our store. This trio work was recorded in 1970 during his first visit to Japan, alongside Yasuo Arakawa (bass) and Takeshi Inomata (drums). All of the tracks are original scores written based on his impressions of traveling in Japan. The emotional imagery of Japan is intricately conveyed and woven into a masterpiece through Waldron's distinctive, serene, and monochromatic piano touch. The performances of Arakawa and Inomata supporting the background are also exceptional. This is the 1978 reissue, accompanied by an 8-page LP-sized booklet.
