This is a leader album recorded by Marion Brown, an American jazz saxophonist who was active at the forefront from the 1960s to 2000. Released in 1970 on ECM, the album opens with a long intro featuring water sounds played like musical instruments and various percussion echoing like sounds from the natural world. On side A, saxophone and flute melodies unfold as if imitating the cries of birds or elephants. On side B, various scenes expressing the workings of nature, incorporating voice improvisation, rush in like a torrent. Both sides feature an expansive sonic world, each lasting over 17 minutes. The album is a magnificent early ECM masterpiece of ethnic jazz, showcasing a rich tapestry of sounds from the natural world. It's a work that deserves high praise as contemporary music. This original German pressing is from the second edition released in the same year as the first edition, but it's pressed with the same master plates as the first edition.
