Matt Jazz Quintet, Italian group consisting of Maurizzio Caldura Nunez (ss,ts), Alessandro Di Puccio (vib), Luca Flores (p), Marco Vaggi (b), and Giaani Cazzola (dr), released this album in 1986 on the Splas(h) label, a leading label in the Italian new jazz scene since the mid-1980s. The album features the impressive A1 with Nunez's hot and brooding tenor saxophone, influences from John Coltrane's historical masterpiece "Love Supreme," and post-bop and contemporary jazz with a spirituality directly related to 60's US modal music. This is an excellent album.
