A 1978 duo album by American drummer Max Roach, who has been active since the bebop era of the 1950s and has been involved in a wide range of activities, from ethnic revival groups like the percussion ensemble M'Boom to collaborations with South African pianist Dollar Brand, known for producing numerous masterpieces with African themes since the 1960s. This album was released under the direction of Yoshio Ozawa, who worked on many projects for labels such as Baystate and Denon Jazz, as a unique Japanese plan. The emotional piano solo by Brand opens the curtain, followed by Roach's solid drum solo, and then a groove session between the two unfolds in the extended track A1. The way their individualities harmonize and elevate together without clashing is truly wonderful. Highly recommended.
