This album, released in 1980 by M' Boom, a jazz percussion ensemble formed in 1970 led by Max Roach, features nine percussion players, including Roy Brooks, Joe Chambers, and Ray Mantilla. Instead of drum sets, a variety of percussion instruments are used to create an entire album of primitive percussion music brimming with Afro-Latin feelings. The intricate sounds of percussion, mimicking animal and bird calls, dance through the soundscape alongside instruments like the marimba and xylophone, almost as if they were real creatures. While there are many similarities to the Diga Rhythm Band, led by Zakir Hussain and The Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart, this album is not psychedelic but rather deeply organic.
