An album released in 1977 by the renowned American drummer Max Roach, who has had a broad career ranging from the bebop era of the 1950s to more ethnic-rooted groups like the percussion ensemble M’Boom. After a 13-year hiatus since his last visit in 1964, Roach returned to Japan with a group of master musicians, including Cecil Bridgewater (trumpet), Billy Harper (tenor saxophone), and Reggie Workman (bass). The album features live recordings from a concert held at Tokyo's Postal Savings Hall. With Roach's dynamic, polyrhythmic drumming as the backdrop, Harper's energetic and emotional saxophone—often associated with the post-Coltrane school—delivers an outstanding, electrifying performance. This release is exclusive to the Japanese market.
