An album released in 1979 by Monty Alexander, a jazz pianist who represents the reggae powerhouse of Jamaica. It is a solo piano work recorded that same year in a studio in Geneva, Switzerland. Alongside the title track, composed by Miles Davis, which he has featured in other works, Alexander performs famous pieces by Sonny Rollins, Nat Adderley, and a cover of Stevie Wonder, as well as his own original scores and traditional songs. Alexander’s piano, with its light and bouncy touch, delivers melodies that are rich and full, making it feel as though he’s playing an ensemble all by himself. Even familiar standards sound completely different. Highly recommended throughout.
