The New York Art Quartet, consisting of Roswell Rudd (tb), John Tchicai (ts), Lewis Worrell (b), and Milford Graves (per), released this album on ESP Disk in 1965. The group also released "Mohawk" in the same year on the famous Fontana series in Holland, and this album also features Graves' extremely primitive and moving drumming, backed by Rudd's trombone and Tchicai's saxophone, which overlap the collapsed melody in a thrilling development.B1, featuring poetry by LeRoi Jones aka Imamu Amiri Baraka, is the best.It is easy to listen to because of its freestyle and emphasis on melody. A masterpiece of avant-jazz. B1 featuring the poetry of LeRoi Jones, aka Imamu Amiri Baraka, is the best. A reissue from Italy's Base Records, probably from the 80s.
