This 1982 album is by Japanese female jazz singer Noriko Miyamoto, who first took the stage as a singer at the legendary disco MUGEN in Akasaka, Tokyo, in the 1970s, and made her major debut through a collaboration with bassist Isao Suzuki. Backed by top Japanese musicians such as Shigeru Suzuki (g), Tsugutoshi Goto (b), Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami (ds), Haruo Togashi (keys), Ryoichi Kuniyoshi (keys), Nobuo Kurata (keys), and Hideki Matsutake (synth), the album includes numerous danceable tracks with strong influences from Black music — notably A2, whose bassline strongly evokes the one played by David Shields on Cheryl Lynn’s disco classic “Got to Be Real.”

A2: Good-bye Girl
A3: Onna
