A remarkably obscure one arrival. Issued in 1972 by Indian Records Inc. of Oklahoma—an American label devoted to Native American traditional music—this album documents the ceremonial music of the Omaha people of the Great Plains cultural region in the American Midwest. The A-side presents Hethuska (War Dance) songs, regarded among the Omaha as their most important ritual repertoire—core ceremonial music that embodies the social structure of Plains tribes. The B-side gathers pieces central to both historic and contemporary powwow tradition: Flag Songs symbolizing tribal sovereignty and community, along with music for traditional gambling rites and warrior ceremonial dances. While the Hethuska rhythms follow the characteristic Plains four-beat pulse shared across neighboring tribes, the melodic phrasing on the B-side is distinctly Omaha, carrying a deeply spiritual resonance unique to their tradition.

Deadstock, unplayed copy opened here only to confirm condition. On B-side, few extremely light sleeve scuffs from the paper inner are present but do not affect playback.
