An album released in 1965 by American saxophonist Ornette Coleman, who, needless to say, is considered the father of free jazz and has greatly influenced numerous musicians, including Don Cherry. This album was released on the American label ESP Disk. The album features David Izenzohn (bass), Charles Moffet (percussion), Selwart Clark (violin), Nathan Goldstein (violin), Julian Barber (viola), and Kermit Moore (cello). It contains live recordings from a concert held at the Town Hall Theatre in New York in 1962. The album is structured with a trio of a single horn and strings quartet. In track A3, you can enjoy a chamber music-like performance by the string quartet alone, while in track B1, there is a magnificent performance of over 23 minutes featuring all the musicians. This recording wonderfully showcases Coleman's outstanding talent as a composer.
A3: Dedication to Poets and Writers
B1: The Ark
