American multi-instrumentalist Patrick O’Hearn, known for his work with Missing Persons and Frank Zappa, and for appearing alongside Alex Acuña on Dan Siegel’s new age fusion album Another Time, Another Place, released his second solo album in 1987. It came out on Private Music, a label founded in the United States by Peter Baumann—formerly a member of early Tangerine Dream—who went on to establish Paragon Studio and build a career as a recording engineer and producer after leaving the group. This self-produced album features O’Hearn performing and programming all instruments himself, including synthesizers, bass, drums, synth drums, percussion, and samplers. Compared to his previous work Ancient Dreams, the album places even greater emphasis on rhythm, while continuing to explore dreamy new age electronics throughout. The sound production, co-developed with Baumann, is exceptional, boasting remarkably high audio fidelity for electronic music of this era.
