An album released in 1966 by Paul Bley, one of Canada's most prominent jazz pianists, who has been active since the 1950s and has left behind numerous masterpieces both as a member of groups like the Ornette Coleman Quartet and the Jazz Composer's Orchestra, and as a leader of his own ensembles. Released on the prestigious free jazz label ESP Disk, this album features a trio with Barry Altschul (drums) and Steve Swallow (bass). It includes performances of original compositions by Bley, as well as pieces by Carla Bley and Annette Peacock, whose scores he would continue to play for many years, alongside works by Ornette Coleman. Created around the same time as Blood, this is a valuable work that captures the moment Bley's unique playing style was solidified.
