An album released in 1984 on ECM by German pianist Rainer Brüninghaus—known for his brilliant solo work including Freigwweht and his outstanding performances on Eberhard Weber’s recordings—trumpeter Markus Stockhausen, son of German contemporary music master Karlheinz Stockhausen and collaborator with Jasper Van’t Hof on Aqua Sanza, and Swiss drummer Fredy Studer, who also participated in Percussion Profiles, a percussion ensemble led by Jack DeJohnette. Side A opens with a grand and expansive soundscape that alternates between stillness and movement. On B1, Markus Stockhausen’s trumpet soars with peaceful melodies over trance-like arpeggiated synths, offering a sublime sense of release and boundless openness. A truly uplifting and blissful masterpiece. Original German pressing.
