An album released in 1960 by the American saxophonist Sonny Red, who collaborated with Curtis Fuller, Art Pepper, and others since the late 1950s and left leader works on Blue Note and Jazzland from the 1960s onwards. Yusef Lateef (ts), Blue Mitchell (tp), Barry Harris (p), Bob Cranshaw (b), and Albert Heath (ds) participated, recording the tracks in New York in the same year. Among the eight tracks, four are one-horn quartets arranged with Red's alto and rhythm section only. While the era is dominated by hard bop, the album showcases pleasing performances with an orthodox style and a gently grooving sound. Lateef's tenor and Mitchell's trumpet are also noteworthy. This is a Japanese reissue from Victor's "Analog Selection Riverside Edition" in 1995 boasts excellent sound quality.
