This album, released in 1956, features recordings made in 1953 by American saxophonist Stan Getz, a representative figure of West Coast cool jazz, under the supervision of Norman Granz. It includes performances by a quintet comprising Bob Brookmeyer (tb), John Williams (p), Teddy Kotick (b), and Frank Isola (ds). Getz's playing, characterized by a warm tone blending lyricism and coolness, was already matured in his mid-20s, but on this album, Brookmeyer's warm melodies on the valve trombone are particularly effective, offering a unique charm compared to recordings of the same period. This domestic reissue was released in 1993 as part of the Norgran Records' "LP Masterpiece Collection on Verve Part 2".
