This album, released by American saxophonist Stan Getz in 1967 on Verve, represents West Coast cool jazz. Produced by Creed Taylor, who also founded CTI the same year, the recording took place at Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey with a one-horn quartet featuring Chick Corea (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Grady Tate (drums). The album includes dynamic original scores by Corea (A1), a Bossa Nova piece (A2) reminiscent of the collaboration with João Gilberto in the early 1960s on "Getz/Gilberto," a melancholic rendition of Michael Gibbs' composition (A3), a Latin jazz classic by Dizzy Gillespie (B1), and a beautiful melody-driven original by Corea (B2). Each track showcases the refined cool jazz style with the distinctive contributions of the ensemble members. This masterpiece allows listeners to fully indulge in sophisticated cool jazz throughout. It was reissued domestically in 1973 under Polydor's "Jazztime Now!!" series.
