Photographer and field recording artist Tadayuki Naitoh, known for numerous photo books capturing natural landscapes and wildlife—particularly across Africa—released this album in 1981. Part of the series that also includes Masai Landand Dry & Wet, both issued the same year, the project documents nighttime soundscapes recorded during his travels in Kenya. Using an omnidirectional dynamic microphone, a parabolic reflector, and a cassette recorder, he captured the living atmosphere of the night. Side B presents the countless insects resonating through the still darkness, while Side A features sounds captured aboard a train running across the nighttime savanna. Both sides offer raw, vivid, and deeply immersive recordings of Africa’s natural sonic environment.
