A double album released in 1976 by the unit "The 360 Degree Music Experience," featuring Dave Burrell, Beaver Harris, Cecil McBee, Hamiet Bluiett, Azar Lawrence, Francis Haynes, Keith Marks, Aunil Garg, Titos Sampa, and others. This outstanding record showcases a variety of ethnic jazz, blending African, Latin, and Caribbean influences. Tracks include the Rumba jazz piece (A1) featuring the rhythms of Latin percussion and the melancholic sound of the celeste, an interesting contrast of African beats and sitar (A2), a soft and swaying oriental melody with flute and sitar (A3), and a unique arrangement with the introduction of steel pan, giving an old calypso-style flavor (D2). The album spans from ethnic jazz to intense improvisations in avant-garde jazz. The emotionally expressive and deep spiritual jazz piece (D1) is also exceptional. Highly recommended.
