This album was released in 1960 by The Three Sounds, originally formed as the Four Sounds in 1959 in Benton Harbor. After relocating to New York and catching the attention of Lou Donaldson, they collaborated with Nat Adderley before solidifying into a trio with Gene Harris (piano), Andrew Simpkins (bass), and Bill Dowdy (drums). The album, presented by Blue Note, features a superb showcase of soul jazz, maintaining a relaxed mood throughout. Track highlights include an impressive Latin-tinged arrangement of a well-known standard (A1), emotionally rich and swaying slow blues jazz with nuanced dynamics (A2/B2), and a breezy lounge feel that is incredibly pleasant (B4). It stands as a masterpiece among masterpieces, capturing the essence of soul jazz. This Japanese reissued version was released as part of the <Blue Note LP Last Reissue> series by Toshiba EMI in 1991.
