This album was featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound. Released in 1988, it is a masterpiece by Italian jazz singer Tiziana Ghiglioni, known for her incredible vocal range spanning from modern to free jazz. The album features Roberto Ottaviano (soprano sax), Stefano Battaglia (piano), Paolino Dalla Porta (bass), and Tiziano Tononi (drums, percussion). Highlights include track A3, a stunningly atmospheric soundscape with deep interplay between restrained, atmospheric bass solos and percussion ensembles. This track resonates with the works of Barre Phillips featuring Norma Winstone or ECM's Azimuth. Another standout is track B3, a highly refined piece of contemporary jazz. It starts with an organic blend of percussion and dancing piano, evolving into a Brazilian jazz number where Tiziana's emotionally expressive vocals soar effortlessly. This track is a cover of a Milton Nascimento composition with lyrics added by Lani Hall from the Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 era. Perfect.
