Released in 1983 by the now-defunct record store chain WAVE, previously managed by Seibu, this is the original soundtrack album for the TV drama "Nami no Bon." The music was composed by Tōru Takemitsu, conducted by Hiroyuki Iwaki, and performed by Tokyo Concerts. Written by Sō Kuramoto and starring Chishū Ryū and Haruko Kato, the story revolves around a Japanese immigrant family in Hawaii torn apart by war. The soundtrack features an orchestra with Takemitsu's signature blend of nostalgia and poignancy, interspersed with compositions that evoke the shadows of war. The theme piece "Nami no Bon" on track A1, in particular, stands out with its ambient elements and functions as a cohesive total concept for the entire work, making it an exceptional piece. This is a rare find and highly recommended.
