An album compiling live recordings from concerts held across Italy in 1980 by Tullio De Piscopo, one of Italy’s most renowned drummers and percussionists. Featuring Larry Nocella (tenor sax), Riccardo Zegna (piano), Luciano Milanese (bass), Sante Palumbo (piano), Wilfred Copello (percussion), and Vincent Butani (percussion). When thinking of Piscopo, many might first recall his 1984 ethno-fusion dance track "Stop Bajon", featuring Don Cherry. However, he is actually a seasoned jazz drummer who has performed with numerous legendary jazz musicians. This album captures his straight-ahead hard bop and modal jazz performances in an immersive live setting. Tracks A1, A2, and B3 evoke the spiritual jazz essence of Massimo Urbani’s masterpiece Dedication to A.A. & J.C. / Max’s Mood, which carries on the spirit of John Coltrane. And don’t miss B2, where Piscopo delivers an absolutely stunning drum solo.
A1: Neptune
A2: What’s New
B3: Tin Tin Deo
