This album was released in 1980 as the first installment of Denon's "Music of Contemporary Japan 1500" series. It features Akira Miyoshi's 1960 work A1 "Public Chapter 3", Toru Takemitsu's 1961 work B1 "Tree Piece", and Minao Shibata's 1960 work "Sinfonia", all performed by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Akio Watanabe. Although Takemitsu has written many works in which he set to music phenomena of the natural world, such as "Water Music" in 1959 and "Water Landscape" introduced in "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION," this work features a fragmentary depiction of a tree in which short phrases appear and disappear. In this work, Takemitsu develops seriel music with fragmentary descriptions in which short phrases appear and disappear.
