A very interesting record has just arrived. This album was released in 1974 as the first in a series of "Local Recordings of Japanese Folktales" produced by Victor Music Industry and Geinoza. As the title suggests, it is a spoken word work in which old people in each region of Japan tell old tales that have been handed down from generation to generation. Folk tales from the Tohno region and Higashi-Iwai-gun in Iwate Prefecture are included with narration by Takashi Yamaguchi. Folktales contain lessons about the local climate and life in the stories, and even if you don't understand them well, they are always alive in your mind. It is also good to experience them as an adult so that you can think about them more deeply. There are many other uses. You will want to listen to the entire series. The insert includes a transcription of the recorded folktales.
